First day on the flats with the Sharkskin was a revelation. My Loomis rod woke up from what felt like years of lethargy and the line shot through the rings effortlessly.
While the Magnum Taper is front loaded which suggests a lack of finesse, turnover and presentation remained acceptably delicate for me.
I was immediately converted!
Yes it sounds different, and that is a bit intrusive initially, but you quickly get over that.
It is also abrasive and is hard on the fingers making tape or stripping gloves worth considering if a few days on the flats are planned.

Casts further and I fish longer without tiring Review by Skip Clement

The rub is the rub, but if you learn how not to burn your fingers, this line will add at least 10- to 25-feet to casts. For poor fly casting anglers the 10-feet can mean the difference between catching fish and not catching fish. For someone older or with shoulder/arm problems the line pick up is so easy that you can start recasting with 50-feet of line still on the water. Less physical wear and tear on all day outings.

The zinging in and out sound because of the dimples is of no importance. Also, the line picking up a lot of water hasn't created any problems for me. Frightening the fish because of water "spay" can be dealt with by taking in line far enough before recasting. Besides, the success rate of recasts to weary flats species is not real high - no matter your line choice.

Every rod I own has Sharkskin on it.
